Bill Schuffenhauer, Olympic bobsledder

March 18, 2016

Both of Bill Schuffenhauer’s parents were drug addicts and as a youth, Schuffenhauer was continuously exposed to life on the streets, drugs, homelessness and foster care. Eventually, his grandmother took charge and helped him turn his life around, becoming a decathlete in high school and college. An ankle injury changed Mr. Schuffenhauer’s direction to bobsledding where he participated in five World Cups and three Winter Olympics, winning a Silver Medal in the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.
